Liz Woodus, Lead Advanced Nurse Practitioner Arthroplasty (Metal on Metal)
Liz Woodus is the Lead Advanced Nurse Practitioner at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust.
Liz started nursing in January 1977 at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital in Birmingham followed by Registered nurse training at University Hospitals Birmingham in 1981. After working in the accident and emergency department she then qualified as a midwife in 1983. Liz returned to orthopaedics, working at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital High Dependency and Recovery Unit from 1984 to 1996.
Liz established the pain service at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital in 1996 and achieved an MSc in pain management at Cardiff University in 2001. Liz obtained a non-medical prescriber qualification in 2004 and her role changed to Senior Nurse, as the Essence of Care, Professional Development, Medicines Management and Pain Service lead until 2009.
Her current role is the Lead Advanced Nurse Practitioner and a member of the Senior Nurse Team.
