Professor Simon Bowman has been a consultant rheumatologist for 20 years with a particular interest in inflammatory arthritis and connective tissue diseases, particularly Sjogren’s syndrome in which he has a longstanding research interest.

He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London, the American College of Rheumatology, member of the British Sjogren's Syndrome Association, the Sjogren's Syndrome Foundation of America and President of the British Society for Rheumatology (2014-16).

He has published over 50 research papers and is an Honorary Professor at the University of Birmingham
