The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital (ROH) has been shortlisted for its work to support staff wellbeing in the inaugral National Orthopaedic Alliance 'Excellence in Orthopaedics' Awards 2022.

The award entry included information about all of the different wellbeing initiatives at the hosital, including the ‘Thrive at Work’ wellbeing programme, their partnership with AccessAble, their excellence staff survey results and their work to support their team with the cost of living.

Jo Williams, Chief Executive said,

"Wellbeing has been a central and guiding principle to our entire Trust and this commitment has produced real benefits. We believe that if our team is thriving, they will deliver the best care to our patients.

We're thrilled to be shortlisted in this award and we want to share our journey and learning with as many people as possible, so that good wellbeing is a standard across the NHS."

About the National Orthopaedic Alliance and the 'Excellence in Orthopaedics' Awards

The NOA Excellence in Orthopaedics Awards recognise NOA member organisations, projects and teams that have distinguished themselves through exemplary contributions, influence, and commitment to transforming services across orthopaedics – both clinically and non-clinically.

The NOA is a membership organisation that brings together orthopaedic providers across the country to put orthopaedics at the top of the agenda. The alliance is multidisciplinary and leads on collaboration across all orthopaedic services by providing opportunities for members to share experiences and address shared challenges with an aim of delivering consistent, high quality care for patients nationwide.

Inclusive culture key to wellbeing

In 2021 the ROH was ranked in the top 50 inclusive UK employers, and the most inclusive NHS employer in the UK. In April 2022 they achieved 'Disability Confident Leader' status. They also launched an art exhibition entitled ‘seeing beyond the stigma’ (www.roh.nhs.uk/beyondstigma), which staff and patients can view.
