Nursing Strike: 6th and 7th February

The Royal College of Nursing (RCN) has announced that strike action will be taking place on Monday 6th and Tuesday 7th February 2023. This will have an impact on services at The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital.

If your appointment or procedure is cancelled because of the RCN industrial action on the 6th and 7th February 2023 will be contact you directly via phone to offer an alternative date of surgery or appointment date. If this date does not suit, we will contact you again within 48 hours to offer another date

You may have your appointment changed from a face-to-face to a virtual consultation (via phone or video chat). We will notify you by phone to advise you of this change.

We recognise that this is disappointing for those waiting for treatment. Our highest priority is patient safety, and we can only deliver services with appropriate levels of staffing. Please be assured that any cancelled procedure or appointment will be rescheduled as soon as possible.

Will my procedure/surgery be rescheduled?

It is necessary for us to reschedule some procedures. While we recognise this is disappointing, we will ensure cancelled appointments are rescheduled within 28 days of your original date to minimise delay.

You will be contacted before your planned procedure date to inform you whether it will proceed. After this call, you will receive a letter in the post with a new procedure date on it.

Will my outpatient appointment be rescheduled?

Some outpatient appointments may be cancelled and rescheduled.

Outpatient appointments for cancer services and any urgent review appointments will continue.

Why are Nurses striking?
