Play Room

For younger children, we have a play room which is open when the play leaders are on duty. Please bear in mind this is a facility for patients and not a creche.

The snoezelen is designed to provide a multi-sensory and relaxing environment, encourage interest and motivation and stimulate the senses of touch, sight and hearing. It is especially welcoming to children with special needs but can be used by other children as a relaxation activity. Sensory equipment available includes:

  • Tactile: gentle vibration bubble tube, vibrating cushion and musical hand wall
  • Visual: Colour-changing fibre optics, bubble tube and infinity tunnel
  • Audible: Playing music, story tapes
  • Interactive: Encourage reaching, hand-eye co-ordination and fine gross motor skills.
