Mr Prem is a Consultant Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust.
He gained his specialist training at Guys and St Thomas Hospitals London, in Australia and in Manchester.
Mr Prem specialises in of foot and ankle surgery and limb reconstruction, in all age groups- from newborns to the elderly. He has a special interest in sports injuries and is currently studying the role of shock wave therapy for painful tendons and fascia. He has described a new condition called Osteochondrosis of the big toe, in adolescent footballers. He has also studied rare conditions like spring ligament ruptures and peroneal spastic flat feet.
Mr Prem is a NHS consultant at two tertiary referral centres; the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital and the Birmingham ChildrenÌ's Hospital.
He has published papers on the long-term results of ankle replacements, ultrasound study of tendon healing and clubfoot surgery. He has presented his results at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and at other international and national meetings. He is a keen teacher regularly lectures and trains senior surgical trainees, physiotherapists and medical students.
