Mr Va Faye studied at The London Hospital Medical College at the University of London and graduated in 1993 before embarking on his General Surgical rotation at Imperial College and affiliated hospitals. Subsequently he took his Orthopaedic Specialist Registrar training at St Mary’s Hospital and The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital Stanmore rotation. He was awarded his intercollegiate fellowship – FRCS(Orth) in 2004.
He undertook further subspecialist lower limb arthroplasty fellowship training first at the RNOH and then at The Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, Oxford, particularly in aspects of complex and revisional surgery. He supplemented his hip and knee revision expertise by undertaking visitations to the USA at University of Southern California (USC), The Hip and Pelvis Institute in Los Angeles and Rush University Medical School & Northwest Orthopaedics and Central DuPage Hospital in Chicago.
Mr Va Faye’s experience as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon began in 2005 with a locum appointment at West Middlesex Hospital and Ravenscourt Park Hospital, London and subsequently a substantive appointment at Salisbury District General. He supplemented his consultant work at St Richards Hospital in Chichester in 2009, focusing predominantly on lower limb revision arthroplasty and trauma. Particular focus was also on revisions for periprosthetic fractures and treatment and prevention of infected arthroplasty.
He also set up the service for open and arthroscopic treatment of femoro-acetabular impingement and related soft tissue pathologies. Consequent to this, he developed new techniques in treatment of soft tissue pathologies around the hip.
