Mr Andrew Young is a Consultant Spinal Surgeon at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust.
Mr Young qualified from Guy’s and St.Thomas’ Medical School, London before further surgical training in London, Brighton and Oxford. He undertook Specialist Orthopaedic training in the East Midlands including at the University of Leicester Teaching Hospitals. He completed two years of the Royal College of Surgeons accredited Senior Clinical Fellowship in Advanced Spine Surgery at Nottingham
He holds a BSc degree in Immunology and a Masters degree in Orthopaedic Engineering on top of his medical degrees.
He has interests in degenerative spinal conditions and in particular the application of minimally invasive techniques where appropriate. He is a keen teacher and has taught on many courses to a wide range of delegates. His research interests focus on the biomechanical engineering aspects of surgery. He reviews articles for the BMJ.
