Role: Recovery Nurse
“I am so excited to be taking part in this photo exhibition – its’s a unique way to be able to celebrate my Filipino culture with colleagues.”
For Madeline, an experienced Recovery Nurse, being part of the NHS is a rewarding career – helping to save lives is something she is immensely proud of. Originally hailing from the picturesque Pangasinan region in the Philippines, Madeline moved to the UK in 2002. Over the years, she has not only become an integral part of the ROH team but has progressed through different roles within the hospital.
The Dalagang Pilipina (typical Filipina woman) dress Madeline wears is more than just clothing; it’s a reflection of her cultural identity. The dress has echoes of Spanish colonial influence fused with Filipino stylistic elements and materials. Madeline feels pride whenever she wears it, as it embodies the essence of her Filipino heritage despite her being miles away from home.
For Madeline, ROH feels like a family. Together we celebrate different cultures and the enriching diversity within our hospital, working toward a common goal.
