Annual Members Meeting 2015/16

to be held on Wednesday September 14th 2016 at 1700h

at

Max Harrison Lecture Theatre, Knowledge Hub, Royal Orthopaedic Hospital,

Birmingham, B31 2AP

Dear Member,

As a member of the Trust you are cordially invited to attend the Annual Members Meeting (AMM). The business to be conducted is detailed on the Agenda below and is very straightforward.

This year’s Annual Members Meeting will be held on site in the main lecture theatre at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital,

Some of the key headlines from year which will be picked up in further detail at the meeting are:

  • We were selected to be represented in one of the new Vanguard models of care
  • We were revisited by the Care Quality Commission, who noted that despite there being further improvements to make, some good progress had been made in the areas flagged as needing addressing when they first visited in 2014
  • We won two awards in the NHS Apprenticeship Recognition Awards

Our Constitution requires us to present the following documents to the members of the Trust at the AMM and this will be part of the Agenda:

  • The Annual Accounts
  • Any report of the Auditor on them
  • The Annual Report.

Any member of the Trust is entitled to request a copy of the full Trust Annual Report and Accounts, which can be made available electronically. We would ask that hard copies are only asked for if members do not have access to a computer as the document is over 200 pages long and will cost almost £5 to post and I feel sure you will realise that this is a non-essential drain on NHS and environmental resources. The 2015/16 Accounts follow a similar format to that of the previous year and will be uploaded to the Trust’s public website after the AMM. However, please find enclosed with this letter a summary of the annual report for your information.

Our AMM will have only one resolution – that the Meeting receive the Annual Accounts, the Report of the Auditor on them and the Annual Report.

If you would like to attend, please let Jane Colley know by phone on 0121 685 4321 or by e-mail at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. She will also be able to provide an electronic version (or paper copy) of the Annual Report and Accounts on request.

Earlier on the same day there will be a meeting of the Council of Governors to which members of the public are invited. Details will be posted on our website nearer the date.

Finally, in a bid to move with the times, and to use NHS resources as efficiently as possible, we are planning from now on to do the majority of our communications with you as members by email. Some of you have already provided your email addresses to us, but it would be wonderful if those of you who haven’t could send over your details on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and we can then keep you updated more regularly via email. This will serve a dual purpose – to have more regular engagement with you, and to reduce the pressure on vital resources.

Yours sincerely,

Dame Yve Buckland

Chairman
