Local NHS Trust welcomes Gary Sambrook MP to community sites

The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital (ROH) welcomed local MP Gary Sambrook to view new community sites in Northfield.

Following on from the official opening of clinic space for MSK patients at the Community Health Hub at Griffins Brook Lane earlier this year, the Trust continues to expand its service offering in the community by investing over £3.5m in a new physiotherapy department and gym at the Bournville Health and Wellbeing Centre at College Green.

The new site will be called ROH at College Green and is currently due to be completed in early 2023.

Marie Peplow, Chief Operating Officer at the ROH, said: “We were delighted to welcome Gary to view and learn more about our new spaces. The new flexible location at Bournville Gardens will encompass a gym and exercise space to support rehabilitation, creating a fantastic environment for patient recovery and for colleagues to work in, as well as a dedicated paediatric space to support our younger patients.”

Gary Sambrook, MP for Birmingham Northfield, said: “It was fantastic to meet staff at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, and see the dedication and passion for what they are doing to help our community, first hand.

This kind of investment shows the commitment of the Government to provide the resources for our NHS and to help local people.”

The ROH sites in the community allow easier access and upgraded services for patients across the Birmingham and Solihull Integrated Care System.

Dave Rogers, Advanced Practice Physiotherapist at the ROH met with Gary Sambrook MP during the visit to speak about the Musculoskeletal (MSK) work which is being undertaken by the Trust.

He said: “In Birmingham and Solihull, around 22% of people are physically inactive, which leads to a lot of joint, bone and muscle problems. We want to get our community moving and staying healthy which is why this centre is so focussed on recovery and wellness.”
