MSK Transformation Programme
There is a lot of variation in the care pathways MSK patients follow. That means that some get an excellent service and others don’t. We are working to standardise pathways and services to help everyone get access to the MSK care they need.
Clinical decision-making support
OrthoPathway is a clinical decision-making support tool for clinicians to use with MSK patients. It is evidence-based and supports clinicians to make the right, standardised and best-practice choice for every person they see.
What does OrthoPathway do?
OrthoPathway reduces variation. At present, local people with MSK conditions and injuries face significant variation in care. OrthoPathways will address this by supporting clinicians to follow standardised pathways which have been created by BSol clinicians, in line with national best practice.
What are the benefits?
- 37% faster MSK consultation
- 3x more effective at delivering best outcome
- Very safe with safety netting documentation
- Updated regularly aligned to best practice
- Easy to use with minimal typing
- Provides quality patient information to share
- Increased confidence managing MSK
- Increased confidence with quality control
- Formulates content for any onwards referral
Why is OrthoPathway important?
This is a very important trial because if it works for MSK patients (improving quality and reducing variation) then it can work for other cohorts of patients too. That’s why your involvement is so important for the future of care in BSol.
OrthoPathway Clinical Research Trial
We are working with Keele University and York University to conduct a randomised controlled trial. This trial is independent research being led by Professor Jonathan Hill at Keele University. There is funding to support you.
