ROH Marks Remembrance Week 2024

Staff across the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital came together to mark Remembrance Week together, to remember the service and sacrifice of the Armed Forces community from the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth.

This week every year we remember the Armed Forces, and their families, from Britain and the Commonwealth, the vital role played by the emergency services and those who have lost their lives as a result of conflict or terrorism.

Poppies are on sale throughout the hospital all week and a Banter and Brew session run by Stepway was held for veterans and their families. These sessions were set up as a dedicated space for veterans to relax, share stories, and receive support.

To round off the week, poppy seeds were sown by staff in the garden outside the Outpatient Department.

Jane Bevan, NJR Lead & Clinical Audit Facilitator and Veteran, commented: “Remembrance honours those who serve to defend our democratic freedoms and way of life. It’s important to take this moment to pause and reflect, and pay tribute to those who have served and sacrificed in defence for our nation.”
