ROH introduces Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence Advocate role

Working with the Trust's Safeguarding team, directly supporting victims and survivors of domestic abuse and sexual violence, the new role will:

  • Engage with patients and staff who have experienced abuse (recent or historical), conducting risk assessments, and creating tailored support plans.
  • With the consent of survivors, work with agencies such as police, social services, schools, and more, ensuring the victims voices are heard and their needs met.
  • Offer a safe, confidential space for survivors to share their experiences, develop coping mechanisms, and access necessary services.
  • Share knowledge on the impact of domestic and sexual violence, promoting multi-agency collaboration, and fostering equality to reduce health disparities.

The new Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence Advocate commented on her main goal in this new role: “My mission is to ensure victims feel heard, believed, and empowered. I’m deeply committed to the safety and healing of victims and survivors of abuse and I want to ensure that no victim of domestic abuse and sexual violence within the Trust is left without the support they deserve.”
