Braking news: New car park opens at The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital

The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital (ROH) has opened an additional car park for patients and visitors in short walking distance from the Outpatient Department.

The new car park provides 40 parking spaces, including two disabled bays and four spaces for charging electric vehicles. Patients can find the new car park via Gate C and follow the road past outpatients on the left.

Janet Davies, Capital Projects Manager Estates, comments: “We know parking at ROH has been difficult due to the location of our Trust and planning restrictions, so we’re thrilled to have our new car park open for patients and visitors to use.

“The extra space needed for creating the new car park was made possible by the demolition of Rabone Hall, which served as a physiotherapy gym for ROH until the opening of our purpose-built physiotherapy department at College Green in 2023.”

The car park also has 4 electric bike chargers and bike lock stations which are located next to the disabled entrance to the Nurses Home building.

Rabone Hall was originally built as a staff recreation hall thanks to the generosity of the Rabone family in memory of their son Captain Brian Rabone (1888-1916). Captain Rabone served with the Royal Warwickshire Regiment and was killed on 1 July 1916 at the Battle of the Somme.
