Jo Williams appointed new Lead CEO of National Orthopaedic Alliance

Jo Williams appointed new Lead CEO of National Orthopaedic Alliance
The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (ROH) continues to make an impact on orthopaedic care nationwide as its Chief Executive, Jo Williams, is announced as Lead CEO for the National Orthopaedic Alliance (NOA) – a national organisation working to drive improvements in orthopaedic care across the country.

Jo will take over from Mark Brandreth, CEO of The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital (RJAH) and will start her term on 1 April 2020.

Jo has been involved with the NOA since she became CEO of ROH in 2019. Some of the alliance’s achievements include:

  • Supporting its strong and growing network of orthopaedic providers to share best practice and address shared challenges
  • Initiating cost improvement programmes (CIP) workshops for member organisations
  • Launching its CPD-accredited clinical coding workshop series so that members can maximise accurate payments for procedures
  • Supporting its procurement group which continues to work to achieve the best prices for members and support data analysis
  • Developing a national patient reported outcomes measures (PROMS) network to ensure member organisations and their patients are getting the most from PROMs
  • Lobbying for improvements to the national tariff for complex orthopaedic procedures.

In her new role, Jo will represent the CEO perspective of the NOA membership on issues affecting orthopaedic care and the proposed activities of the alliance. She will work with the NOA Director and Board members to guide the day-to-day policy decisions dictating NOA’s activity, as well as provide support, expertise and information to the wider membership.

Ann Hoey, Deputy Director of the NOA said: “The NOA Board is delighted to have appointed Jo as our new Lead CEO. As CEO of one of our founder member trusts we are confident she is the right person for the role. I would like to thank Mark Brandreth of RJAH for his continued leadership while we transition to a new Lead CEO and express my gratitude for his commitment and enormous contribution to NOA over the past two years.”

Jo said: “I’m honoured to be representing ROH and orthopaedic providers across the country as the Lead CEO for the NOA at an exciting time for the alliance. The NOA is an organisation that is vital to achieving the highest quality orthopaedic care for patients nationwide. I look forward to working with NOA members, key partners and stakeholders to support the alliance to achieve its goals for the coming year and beyond.”
