ROH appoints Dr Simran Minhas as Senior Academy Teacher

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Dr Simran Minhas as the lead for perioperative care for our undergraduate medical students at The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital.
This is a new appointment and Simran will work alongside the already established undergraduate Academy. The new role will help shape the perioperative medicine course that we will be running for our Aston University medical students. The trust has an excellent track record in undergraduate education, most recently acknowledged by the University of Birmingham following a very successful undergraduate monitoring visit.
Providing Aston Medical students with an excellent grounding
The trust has taken orthopaedic students from Birmingham medical school for decades. However, more recently our anaesthetic team have hosted a small cohort of fifth year medical students as part of their career experience, this has received phenomenal feedback. We are excited at being able to be part of the journey with Aston medical student and ensuring their students receive an excellent grounding in the area of perioperative medicine.
Simran will lead the perioperative medicine education team and we will be appointing into supportive roles to help her in the coming 12 months. Professor Edward T Davis, Surgeon and Head of Undergraduate Academy at The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital said of the appointment;
The panel was impressed at the passion that Simran brings with her for undergraduate education and already has an excellent understanding of the medical student curriculum in her role as the anaesthetic clinical lead for the University of Birmingham undergraduate medical degree.

We are delighted that Dr Minhas has accepted this appointment. She, along with the rest of our Education Team will ensure that medical students receive a first rate experience at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, equipping them for the future.
Our first Aston students will be on site in November and we look forward to welcoming them and are delighted that Simran has agreed to join the team.
