An organisation called Inspired By Hope have produced and donated an incredible 800 sets of scrubs to The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital.
This generous donation was coordinated through Speciality Registrar, Rajpal Nandra and surgeon Akash Sharma. They, along with many ,have been working with community organisations and businesses to get equipment and goods to frontline medical staff as they battle coronavirus.
The scrubs, created by manufacturers and volunteers will support supplies at The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital. Kiran Shergill, business owner at So-Mes Creation and volunteer at Inspired By Hope, sourced the material and cuts and made the garments with her experienced volunteer team. All volunteers are skilled machinists and underwent full tutorials and safety training.
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Trust has transformed from an elective hospital, into a trauma centre, treating some of the most vulnerable and frail patients in the city.
Garry Marsh, Executive Director of Nursing & Clinical Governance said:
"This is an incredibly generous donation and we are grateful to Inspired By Hope. In these challenging circumstances it's encouraging to know that community spirit is alive and well. I would like to offer our thanks to every volunteer who helped to make these scrubs."
